Claire Noyce to step down as Chair of Small Cap Awards Judging Panel

Claire Noyce, Managing Partner of Hybridan, has confirmed her decision to step down from her role as Chair of the Judges for the Small Cap Awards.  Claire has led the judging process for the past six years, having first joined the judging panel in 2013.

Claire has been integral to the growth and development of the Small Cap Awards and the Network as a whole.  The calibre of the judges since her arrival as chair, the integrity of the awards judging process, the credibility of the judging panel as a whole and the quality of the winners and nominees is central to the reputation of The Awards as awards worth winning and Claire should take huge credit for this.

Commenting on her decision to step down Claire said, “This wasn’t an easy decision to reach but I felt that the time was right for me to take a step back, and it is good as a chair to know when to hand over the baton on a high to someone new who will bring fresh ideas. I am proud of the work that I and the panel of judges have done over the years and would like to thank all of those who have given up their time to help us identify the very best small cap companies, investors and executives. It is no secret that I am a passionate advocate for the small cap ecosystem here in the UK and I hope that the Small Cap Awards will continue to provide a platform for all of the stakeholders in this community.”

We at the Small Cap Network would like to publicly thank Claire for all of her hard work and support. It has been a pleasure to work with her.

An announcement on Claire’s successor as Chair of Judges will follow in January.

Inaugurated in 2013, the Small Cap Awards is an annual event celebrating and rewarding the finest in the sub-£200m market cap quoted company sector.

The Awards celebrates those professionals and companies that work within the AIM and Aquis (formerly NEX Exchange) communities and is attended by listed companies, institutions, fund managers, brokers and advisors.

The 2022 awards will celebrate their 10th anniversary year and will take place on 30th June 2022 at The Montcalm Hotel in London.

Aquis Stock Exchange (AQSE) – the first year in review

In January 2021, Aquis Exchange PLC introduced a new set of innovations to transform its newly-acquired primary listings business – Aquis Stock Exchange. Key changes included the segmentation of the AQSE Growth Market into Access (AXS, for early-stage companies, minimum market cap of £700k) and Apex (APX, for more established businesses, minimum market cap of £10m) to introduce proportionality and to make the market more accessible and appropriate. Aquis also introduced the Market Maker Incentive Scheme – designed to narrow spreads and improve liquidity.

Apex now includes 20 active securities in total and received two new admissions during the year, along with 4 upgrades from the Access segment. The Access segment contains 76 actively trading securities and welcomed 22 new admissions in 2021. In total, by the end of the year there will have been 24 IPOs on the Aquis Stock Exchange Growth Market this year compared with 7 in 2020, 13 in 2019 and 14 in 2018. New issuer fundraising was vastly improved with £100 million raised in 2021.

Between November of 2020 and now, the average spreads fell in absolute percentage terms by 14% for stocks in the Access segment and fell by 11% for Apex securities. The tighter spreads represent more true-market quotes, with less margin retained by the broker and reduced cost to the investor getting into and out of a position. Improvement in value traded year on year was seen with over £500 million worth of securities being traded in 2021 on AQSE. By comparison, the total value traded for the market in 2020 was around £55 million.

With a strong pipeline of interesting growth businesses seeking to join AQSE, we are looking forward to an exciting 2022. For more information, please contact AQSEBusinessDevelopment@aquis.eu or visit www.aquis.eu
